Pai men Miyake | Portland Restaurant Week | Part 4
It is with great sadness that we bring our Portland Restaurant Week to a finish. We wish we had eaten at every spot in the city but alas, we only have two bellies. Rounding out our weekend of ridiculously good food we’ve got Pai men Miyake. Responsible for satisfying our cravings for Asian (once we realized Boda’s Thai kitchen was closed for a week-long vacay) this totally adorable eatery is another must try in the West End of town. Chef Masa …
Petite Jacqueline | Portland Restaurant Week | Part 3
And we’re back with the third installment of Portland Restaurant Week on Just Add Cheese. This Maine love fest might even end up going into the middle of next week because there’s just that many awesome spots in Portland, and of course we did nothing but stuff face when we were there. So, if you haven’t decided to take the next bus to Portland after reading about Local 188 and Eventide, this one might be the one to seal the deal. Our …
Eventide Oyster Co. | Portland Restaurant Week | Part 2
If you live in New England and haven’t heard of Duckfat in Portland Maine, you’ve probably been living under a rock. It’s constantly topping best of Maine lists and always seems to make its way into any conversation about Portland. And how could it not? The food is simply prepared with the freshest ingredients, it’s impossible to resist the casual rustic atmosphere of the place and the servers are passionate about the food. And those fries! zomg. You’re probably wondering why I’m talking …
Guest Post | Portland’s West End | by Mel
Ello Cheese Heads, today we have another very spesh guest post for ya! Our dear friend Melissa Leiter, author of The Leiter Side of Life, is here to divulge a few hidden gems of Portland she recently discovered since moving there post-college. Enjoy! Hello Just Add Cheese! I’m Melissa, full time bar tender/writer and an old roommate of Jacki’s. I moved away from Boston a little over a year ago and made Portland, Maine my home. Portland is quite the foodie …
Duckfat | French Fry Nirvana | Portland, ME
Last weekend I took my first visit to Portland, Maine. I didn’t know much about the city before arriving, except that I was going to Duckfat….before doing anything else. If you haven’t heard of it, Duckfat is an adorably whimsical sandwich shop started by husband and wife team Nancy Pugh and Rob Evans (of Portland restaurant Hugo’s), who was awarded best chef in the Northeast by the James Beard Foundation in 2009. The tiny restaurant has gotten the attention of everyone from …
