Fishtail by David Burke | NYC
It’s going to be tough for me to do this restaurant justice in a blog post, but here goes. Fishtail was extraordinary. I’m smiling just thinking about it. It was one of those experiences, that after each bite of food you take, your eyes roll back in your head and you sigh involuntarily because it tastes so good. A little back story — in what may have been one of the coolest things to ever happen to Just Add Cheese, …
Food Porn Friday | Go Fish | Ultimate Fried Haddock Sandwich
Go Fish is another great mobile eateriy to come out of Boston’s Food Truck epidemic, and this is their beloved fish sandwich. Deemed the “ultimate” fried haddock sandwich, it is served with a roasted red pepper tartare and an onion/carrot slaw held together by a buttered, grilled bulkie roll. Still bubbling and hot from the fryer, the fish is crisp and the bread soft. It’s totally pressable; providing the perfect fit for your mouth. You can thank Brother Trucker for the fried fish goodness, the catering company spawned Go …
Bryan Voltaggio’s Volt | Frederick, MD
This Christmas, my mom surprised my family with a reservation at Volt. My brother (along with the entire Maryland, DC, Virginia area) had been dying to try this place ever since Bryan Voltaggio was the runner up on season 6 of Top Chef. Volt is located in Frederick, Voltaggio’s hometown, about an hour west of Baltimore, inhabiting an old mansion right in the center of town. The decor is minimal and true to the original architecture of the building. We were sat …
Mystery Meet | Mumbai Chopstix
Tuesday was my second Mystery Meet, a foodie meet-up (aka 4 course dinner party) which takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. You buy a ticket online without knowing the location, then it is announced 24 hours before the meetup. Each time there are about 40 people, a random combination of foodies and food bloggers from Boston and surrounding areas that get together to talk about our favorite thing, FOOD! Some clues are given about the location in …
Four Courses of Fall Inspiration
Here is the dinner that came out of our visit to the Boston Local Food Festival! We went in with no plan, came home with a random assortment of ingredients and created a 4 course fall dinner that consumed the majority of Saturday night. Everyone helped out and played some role in cooking / thinking up the menu. I have no definitive measurements or ingredients because everyone was helping out with everything, so think of this dinner as fall inspiration… …
