On May 5th food trucks from New York & Boston gathered on the Greenway for the 2nd Annual Food Truck Throwdown. This year’s sponsor, Maker’s Mark, was the signature ingredient featured in many a specialty dishes (as you’ll see below). If you didn’t make it to the event – and are wondering what you missed – allow me to enlighten you…
Paris Creperie was my first stop for a S’mores Crepe made with Graham Cracker infused Crepe filled with Nutella and Marshmallows
Next was Uncle Gussy’s who featured a Skirt Steak Pita Sandwich doused with Maker’s Mark
Followed by a few desserts, starting with the Cinco de Mayo cupcake by the Cupcake Crew
And a Bourbon Brownie Sunday courtesy of the Cookie Monstah
The “inspired hand-held food” truck Nuchas was serving up fresh baked empanadas. The day’s specials included a Maker’s Mark marinated pork with blood orange, onions, poblano peppers & ginger packed inside rosemary dough and a Thai Basil Beef empanada filled with grass fed beef, basil, onions, peppers, bird eye chili, soy sauce, rock candy & balsamic.
Mike n’ Willlie’s stole my heart with their Fish Taco made with fresh COD beer battered and fried topped cilantro crema and crispy chipotle lime slaw and the Mango Pulled Pork Taco (marinated in Maker’s Mark obvs).
I finished things off with a Bourbon infused Baklava from Boston’s Chubby Chickpea truck before rolling over on the grass and sucumbing to food coma. I barely made it through half the food trucks.
