A recent trip to Chicago landed me at Tony Mantuano’s Bar Toma for a quick snack and some vino. It was a Monday, which at Bar Toma means half priced bottles of vino. So I use the term “quick” loosely, as a snack and some vino turned into two bottles of Gavi di Gavi, a mozzarella sampling fit for a king and the best tasting charred carrots I’ve ever had. As you can see here. And who says charred carrots can’t be zexy? No one. Especially not after looking at these guys – topped with Capriole goat cheese, almonds, and Acetaia San Giacomo balsamico. The smokiness adds that essential je ne sais quoi and is this orange color (with no filter or help from editing) isn’t the quintessential color of fall then I don’t know what is. Plus carrots are amazing for your skin and hair, so eat em up like woah and you can be zexy too!
