Food Porn Friday | Saffron Gingered Peach Meringue | Rialto

It feels like it’s been an eternity since my last post. Just because I haven’t been updating Just Add Cheese with food porn regularly doesn’t mean I haven’t been surrounded by it for the past couple of weeks. In fact, that’s exactly what happened. And I’m sorry for being selfish and not sharing with you sooner.

I recently took on a new job at Rialto — the nationally acclaimed restaurant owned by Chef Jody Adams, located inside Harvard Square’s Charles Hotel. One of the perks to working in a 4 star restaurant, owned by one of the most talented and respected chefs in Boston (with a brilliant team backing her) means I get to feast my eyes, and taste buds, on wildly delicious, jaw-dropping dishes on the daily. Don’t get it twisted though, it’s not ALL fun and games, which is why my time’s been cut short when it comes to updated this food baby of mine. But enough of the back story, let’s jump into the pornz shall we?

Our pastry chef Susan is constantly tempting me, whether on purpose or not, with her ridiculously good desserts like Fried Apple Slices topped with dulce de leche and spiced butternut squash gelato and the Chocolate Crema paired with the most sensational s’more you’ll ever taste. Trust me, it’s famous. Just check Yelp; even the craziest critics can’t seem to deny how amazingly “insane” it is. Don’t even get me started on the Peach Crostada. It has the ability to mend broken hearts, end world wars, and stop time all at once. Yeah, it’s that good. But I won’t try and justify it with a photo just yet, I guess you’ll have to come visit me and check it out for yourself.

Today we’re here to ogle at another one of my favorite sweets. Behold, the Saffron Gingered Peach Meringue filled with homemade ginger ice cream, paired with sugar-poached peaches and finished off with a saffron gelĂ©. And let’s not forget the cardamon whipped cream. I die.

The rare breed that she is, this beauty looks good from every angle, which by no means is an easy feat. Look…

See what I mean?

The ginger ice cream alone will change your life, and if you’ve never tried ginger and mint soaked peaches you haven’t lived. Sophisticated and well calculated these individual pieces come together to create one seriously overwhelming foodgasm. You might tear up from sheer joy after just one bite, but don’t be embarrassed, you wouldn’t be the first.
