A recent visit to Sam’s at Louis Boston made me feel like I was on vacation in my own city. It’s hidden away from the crowds and hour long waits of Liberty Wharf but it’s still right on the water and has amazing, maybe even better, views of the harbor and the city — especially the day that we ate there because the Tall Ships had just made their grand arrival into the harbor.
Sam’s has this new age diner thing going on: chrome tables, leather booths, white tabletops, etc. I don’t normally love that look, but Sam’s does it in a way that makes the diner style seem somehow classy and refined. And the menu is perfect for a Saturday lunch! Chef Asia Mei knows what’s up. The dishes are simple, super fresh, locally sourced, shareable crowd pleasers. It doesn’t get much better than that.
This bread is crack. Instantly addicting, impossible to stop eating regardless of how much food you know you have coming.
For a fresh summery cocktail try The Hoond with Vodka, elderflower, grapefruit juice, lime juice, simple syrup made with sea salt.
This Spicy Hummus was also the reason why I couldn’t stop eating the bread. The combination was dangerous.
The Smooth Mushroom Soup with shiitake broth, paprika and sorrel sour cream was unexpectedly amazing, it had a sort of tom yum soup style tangy flavor that just bursts into your mouth.
Get the Creamy Chicken Croquettes with fines herbs and cilantro-celery salad. Just do it.
I’m getting nostalgic just looking at this photo of the Spicy Chicken Sandwich with fried cutlet, mozzarella, basil, tomato, and mayo, with fries. Great combo of ingredients and all were super fresh.
The Boston Bibb Salad with herbed goat cheese, strawberries, and sesame candied walnuts reminded me that I should be using bibb lettuce way more often than I do at home. Yum.
Then my personal shopper and I went downstairs to Louis Boston and dropped a few thousand on one dress. Just kidding. But seriously, who shops at that store? I want your life.

I went to a tasting event at Sam’s last year and have always wanted to go back. I heard their brunch was very good. Totally agree with you about the views, stunning!
