I’m currently struggling to find the words to accompany this photo. Mainly, because everytime I look at it my brain turns to mush and all I can think about is how I just want to inhale it right now. Too bad I already did the other day. It was literally like a small slice of heaven. Which is exactly what the entire block smells like leading up to the small store front that is Zinneken’s.
The bakery, which solely serves up gourmet belgium waffles, was rumored to be coming to Harvard Square months ago. After hearing nothing regarding its whereabouts, I had almost given up hope, assuming it didn’t exist. Then, while walking down Mass Ave. one night, completely stuffed from the dinner I just ate at Veggie Galaxy, I smelled something glorious. I followed my nose and it brought me here. I recognized the name and was completely elated!
The list of waffle toppings they offer is extensive. The one you see above is The Gourmand – topped with banananas and caramel, and a side of whipped cream. Light and fluffy on the inside, hot and crunchy on the outside. When it was over, I cried.
