Food Porn Friday | Thai Pulled Pork Sangy | Area Four

This past weekend I found myself at the “Smoke This” Rib Fest in East Cambridge. Local restaurants like Tupelo, Redbones, ArtBar, Bambara, Bosphorus and Think Tank all came out to show off their slow cooking skills and to see who really makes the best ribs eva. As expected there were ribs, cornbread, and coleslaw everywhere. Pulled pork also happened to make a big appearance at quite a few tables. As you can imagine, Cambridge Street pretty much turned into a mecca of food porn for the day. However, amidst all the slow cooked ribs and their varying marinades, there was one star in particular who stole the show (in my personal expert opinion that is). Not a rib competitor, but in the form of a pulled pork sangy, Area Four totally blew my mind.

Their slow cooked, and ridiculously tender green curry bbq pulled pork came piled high on a scallion buttermilk biscuit. Topped with a papaya and peppered peanut slaw and lime and green curry remoulade, I’d never tasted anything like it. It was a total thai-take on the typical bbq pulled pork - tangy, sweet and a tad bit spicy. The biscuit could not have been more melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and if they happened to serve this sandwich at their restaurant I’d probably never eat pork anywhere else again. And that says a lot coming from a serious pork lovah.
