Mystery Meet #10 | Tres Gatos | Jamaica Plain

A few months ago Seth from Mystery Meet asked Meesh and I if Just Add Cheese would be interested in hosting a Mystery Meet in April. Since he was in the process of moving to San Francisco he would not be in Boston for the April 12th event and needed some competent food-loving ladies to fill in as life of the party organizers. Now I know there is no such thing as a “stupid question” but in this case the answer was insanely obvious… YES! We were all over it.

It has since been two weeks since the April installment of Mystery Meet (and Just Add Cheese’s first event ever!) has wrapped, and I am terribly sorry for not posting these photos sooner. As you may have guessed, based on our lack of content recently, life has taken us into full-fledged crazy-busy mode and our ability to get our foodie adventures on the site in a timely fashion has hit a lull but I promise we’ll be posting more frequently again in no time!

We originally decided to have the event at Tres Gatos in Jamaica Plain because, well quite frankly, I’m obsessed. It’s got a lot of character and personality. From the atmosphere and decor, to each individual staff member that works there; it’s hard not to fall in love upon first entering the book shop / record store / tapas restaurant. Nothing is short of perfect; with an impeccable selection of vinyl, great reads and a delicious spread of small plates – I absolutely adore this place!

We saw both familiar faces (and unfamiliar faces) come together on April 12th for a great evening of food, wine and fun!

Keith, the sommelier at Tres Gatos put together a delicious selection of wine pairings to accompany the one-of-a-kind tasting menu Chef Marcos Sanchez had prepared. Offered a la carte or as a four course package, I took total advantage. As did most of the group.

1st Course: Tapas
Breakfast Radish, Moses Sleeper Cjeese & Chervil | Salsa Negro, Piparras & Manchego  Pork Stuffed Cerignolas & Boquerones

2nd Course: Gambas A La Plancha
Spicy Garlic & Cilantro Coulis

3rd Course: Fideos
Chorizo, Chicken Liver, P.E.I. Mussels & Piquillo Pepper

4th Course: Queso
Torta de la Serna, Sheep’s Milk from Spain | Chevrin, Goat’s Milk from Belgium | Manchego Curado, Sheep’s Milk from Spain

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and we certainly had a great time hosting the event. Thanks to David, Keith, Marcos, Paul and all the staff at Tres Gatos for helping us put together such a great evening and be sure to check out Mystery Meet and see if you can guess where next month’s secret location will be!
